Pittsburgh Steelers long snapper Christian Kuntz believes the team should bring back linebacker Elandon Roberts, who the team let walk a year ago. Roberts signed a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders and played under Steelers defensive coordinator Patrick Graham.
Graham’s connections with Roberts and the likely desire from Roberts to return could create a situation where the hard-hitting linebacker is back. Kuntz wants to see it happen.
“If I’m getting into a fight, and I gotta call one person, it literally might be E-Rob. Like, I think I’m calling E-Rob,” Kuntz said on his podcast. “I hope we get him back. I know he’s a free agent. I know the DC we signed, Patrick Graham is close with E-Rob from Vegas, so I’m hoping E-Rob comes back. ‘Cause he was one of the best teammates I’ve had in my career.”
Roberts had said he wanted to retire a Steeler, but it seems the Steelers wanted to go elsewhere last year by signing Malik Harrison. Harrison brings a ton of special teams value, and so the Steelers are paying for that as much as they are Harrison’s run-down capabilities.
Roberts has played with the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins. He is a two-time Super Bowl Champion from his days in New England and had instilled a winning culture in Pittsburgh’s room as one of the few players on the roster who won a Super Bowl.
Pittsburgh could look to bring him back, as depth linebacker Cole Holcomb is a free agent this offseason. Roberts played two seasons for the Steelers.
