A new era of football has begun in East Rutherford, as John Harbaugh has officially taken the helm of the New York Giants.
Harbaugh, 63, had previously served as the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens since 2008. Across 18 seasons, the man led the franchise to a 193-124 record, 12 playoff appearances, and a Super Bowl title.
Now tasked with turning around the Giants, it’s probable that Harbaugh looks to bring in some of his former players to support his mission.

Giants Land Marlon Humphrey From Ravens in Logical Scenario
Should Harbaugh advise New York’s front office to turn to the trade market, one veteran cornerback makes sense to strike a deal for.
Passing the Torch
Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey has called Baltimore home since being selected by the organization in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Nevertheless, there comes a point in almost every player’s career when parting ways with their initial team become inevitable.
There is evidently a youth movement occurring in Baltimore’s secondary. Within the last four drafts, the Ravens have used half of their first-round picks on their defensive backfield (Kyle Hamilton in 2022 and Nate Wiggins in 2024).
Humphrey will turn 30 years old this offseason, and he is approaching the point that corners tend to decline. He dealt with multiple injuries throughout the 2025 season, causing him to miss several games.
Additionally, the man is one of the highest-paid cornerbacks in the NFL, and is due to cost the Ravens a $26 million cap hit in 2026. With a new staff set to lead the defensive unit in 2026, Baltimore may wish to find a cheaper replacement for Humphrey that better fits its scheme.
Building Around a Familiar Face
With Cor’Dale Flott entering free agency and former first-round pick Deonte Banks having disappointed to this point, the Giants are extremely thin at boundary corner outside of Paulson Adebo. Luckily, there is a player who spent the last nine years with Harbaugh who looks to be a viable trade option.
While he is no longer the same caliber of player he was earlier in his career, Humphrey still posted a stat line of 13 pass deflections, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one sack in 2025. He would provide a level of outside corner talent the Giants currently lack, add veteran experience to a young secondary, and bring a winning mentality to the overall roster.
After hiring John Harbaugh as head coach, the Giants brought in former Ravens defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson as their defensive coordinator. Having already played for Wilson, Humphrey is a natural fit in a press-coverage scheme that matches his physical style.
With one year remaining on his contract, Humphrey is the perfect rental piece in a season that is crucial to the revival of New York’s status as a playoff contender. From there, the team would have the inside track on future negotiations should the move prove successful.
The Trade
Giants receive: CB Marlon Humphrey
Ravens receive: 2026 fourth-round pick (No. 105), 2027 sixth-round pick
In the 2020 offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles dealt third- and fifth-round picks to the Detroit Lions for prominent cornerback Darius Slay. Like Humphrey, Slay was entering the final year on his contract, but had less injury concerns.
The move would give the Giants an immediate veteran presence in the secondary while preserving premium draft capital to address other roster needs. Meanwhile, Baltimore would clear significant salary and add future assets, positioning the team to invest in younger defensive backs.
