The Arizona Cardinals have been filling up Mike LaFleur’s coaching staff in recent hours. They retained defensive coordinator Nick Rallis and hired Michael Ghobrial as their special teams coordinator.

Now it appears they could lose a key up-and-coming assistant to a division rival.

After Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak left to be the Las Vegas Raiders‘ head coach, the Super Bowl champions are targeting a Cardinals assistant.

The Seahawks are interviewing the Cardinals’ pass game specialist, Conner Senger, for their vacant coordinator role, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport

According to Rapoport, the Cardinals would like to retain Senger.

Who is Senger of the Arizona Cardinals?

Senger is in his fourth year as an assistant coach with Arizona. The Cardinals originally hired him as part of the Bill Bidwill Coaching Fellowship, assisting with the Cardinals’ quarterbacks.

Since being hired in 2022, Senger has been a fast-riser, having a new position with Arizona each year.

In 2023, the Cardinals promoted him to offensive quality control coach. Then, in 2024, Arizona promoted him to assistant quarterbacks coach, after which he served as the pass game specialist in 2025.

At the age of 30, Senger is already a coveted coach.

During this offseason, the Chicago Bears interviewed Senger for their vacant offensive coordinator role. Other teams also interviewed Senger for quarterback coaching jobs.

What Is the Potential Impact?

Now, a divisional foe is targeting Senger for their offensive coordinator role.

While the Bears’ job certainly was intriguing with a young star quarterback in Caleb Williams and a talented team, coach Ben Johnson calls the plays.

If Seattle offers Senger the offensive coordinator role, he would certainly have to at least consider it heavily. Seattle is coming off a Super Bowl win with an incredibly talented team.

Senger would have the opportunity to call plays, which is enticing enough. Working with a Super Bowl quarterback in Sam Darnold, an elite wide receiver in Jaxon Smith-Njigba and other strong pieces, Senger would be somewhat foolish not to consider this position heavily if offered.

With an elite defense, there would be less pressure on Senger to get things under control right away. But with the pressure of coming off a championship, should Senger take the job if offered?

Or will he stay loyal to the organization that gave him his first opportunity and wait for the right gig?

With Arizona, the risks of staying are low. There are no current expectations for the Cardinals, and there is definitely room for growth in the desert.

However, with the current quarterback situation, Senger might be tempted to abandon ship.

Senger, in due time, could be an offensive coordinator for Arizona the way he has worked up the ladder. At his young age, he has time to grow as a coach.

In recent years, many young, coveted minds have become head coaches. Perhaps we could see that trend continue with Senger.

But will he leave first for Seattle to fast-track that? That remains to be seen.
