At the beginning of the offseason, most Philadelphia Eagles fans’ first prediction would be that tight end Dallas Goedert would not return to the team in 2026.

It was nothing against Goedert’s play as he had a decent season with 60 receptions for 591 yards and a franchise tight end record 11 touchdowns. The issue is that other top free agents, like Jaelan Phillips, Reed Blankenship, and Nakobe Dean, are bigger priorities for the team.

Well, NFL insider Mike Garafolo appeared on The Anthony Gargano Show, where he gave a much different update. Gargano asked Garafolo whether there is a chance that Goedert signs a one-year deal with the Eagles.

“I know Dallas (Goedert) would like to come back… all things equal.”

Goedert is going to command good money in free agency after he restructured his contract last year with the Eagles to stay on the roster for 2025. The Eagles were originally going to pay Goedert $14 million, but after restructuring his deal, the amount was reduced to $10 million.

Many experts predicted the market price for Goedert would be under $10 million, but the question is how much the Eagles are willing to pay him to stay on the roster. Goedert has shown in the past that he is willing to take a pay cut to stay in Philly.

The Eagles could use Goedert as they go into the offseason. Cameron Latu is the only one still under contract, with Grant Calcaterra and Kylen Granson expected to be with Goedert in free agency. Draft experts have predicted the Eagles going Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq in the first round of mock drafts to replace Goedert.

With the new Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, there is interest in seeing what kind of tight end he would want in his offense in Philly. Whether Goedert fits into the plans will be an interesting situation to monitor in the offseason.
