After missing the playoffs this past season, the Baltimore Ravens decided enough was enough and fired longtime head coach John Harbaugh. Harbaugh has been with the team for 18 seasons, and now the organization is embarking on a path forward under new leadership for the first time in almost two decades.

Baltimore quickly decided who the next head coach would be, bringing in former Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter to take over. Minter comes over with a lot of experience, and many around the NFL believe that this could be one of the better pairings in this current coaching cycle.

With Minter now in the mix, the Ravens’ front office will get to work on improving the roster for next season and beyond. The defense does need some work this offseason, but adding to the offense could also fix some real problems that the team had.

One issue that Baltimore has seen over the last few years is a lack of a true No. 1 wide reciever in this offense, and it has hurt them. Now, with star quarterback Lamar Jackson running the show, the Ravens haven’t needed a star wideout to find success, but in the playoffs, having a reliable go-to guy can make all the difference.

The wide receivers on the Ravens were decent this year, but in the biggest moments, they let them down again. Drops have been a problem for Baltimore over the years, and the team may look to correct this over the offseason.

Zay Flowers seemed to take a small step forward, but the team does need more from him. On the other end, Rashod Bateman continued his subpar start to his career, leaving Baltimore with a major need heading into the summer.

George Pickens Heads to Baltimore Ravens

One option for the Ravens as the front office looks to upgrade the offense could be going after star wide receiver George Pickens, who is expected to be given the franchise tag. Pickens is coming off a breakout season with the Dallas Cowboys, and even with the tag, the star could still be moved.

Pickens could offer the Ravens something that they haven’t had in a long time, and he could give Jackson a true No. 1 option in the field. Putting Pickens into this offense could see it fully explode, and he seemed to thrive this season, figuring out some things that previously didn’t work.

For the year, Pickens played in all 17 games for the Cowboys, catching 93 passes for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. Pickens was a reliable threat all season for Dallas, and he seemed to get better as the year went on.

Having Pickens, Flowers, and others in the wide receiver room could see the Ravens offense boom next year, and it would make them even scarier in the AFC. Then, out of the backfield, star running back Derrick Henry could continue to produce, making this offense explosive in all areas.

Landing Pickens from the Cowboys will likely cost the Ravens a lot, but it could be a worthwhile investment for this team. The ultimate goal for Baltimore is a Super Bowl title, and Pickens could push them much closer to winning another one.
