The New York Giants bolstered their offensive staff with the hiring of Matt Nagy as offensive coordinator, positioning him to guide second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart under head coach John Harbaugh.

Nagy, who previously coordinated for the Kansas City Chiefs alongside Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce—contributing to multiple Super Bowl runs—brings extensive experience after stints as the Chicago Bears head coach and earlier roles.

Dart, coming off an encouraging rookie campaign where he amassed 24 total touchdowns and just seven turnovers across starts, proactively sought insights on his new coordinator.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reports that Dart engaged in multiple conversations with Mahomes about working with Nagy, emerging impressed by the feedback. During Super Bowl week, he also consulted Kelce, who offered glowing endorsements of his former play-caller.

Dart, fresh off a rookie season with 24 total touchdowns and seven turnovers, talked on multiple occasions with Mahomes about working with Nagy, according to multiple sources close to the QB. He came away impressed. He also told reporters last week that he spoke with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce about his former coordinator and received rave reviews.

In an exclusive Forbes interview, Dart elaborated on his enthusiasm.

“I can’t wait to get the chance to play for him. Just so many great things that are said about him and his coaching style and the work that he puts in, the passion that he has for the game,” he said.

Dart praised Nagy as a “quarterback guy” who prioritizes putting players “in the best situation and position to succeed,” and tailors approaches to individual QBs. Dart noted Kelce “didn’t have anything but tremendous things to say about Coach Nags,” reinforcing positive views from Chiefs stars.

Nagy’s scheme aligns well with Dart’s strengths, with minimal expected adjustments from prior systems.

This “loaded” staff, including other ex-caches and coordinators, signals the Giants’ commitment to Dart’s growth as they aim to elevate their offense.
