NFL rumors are swirling around the idea of veteran quarterback Derek Carr returning to the NFL, and there are multiple teams showing interest.Â
The four-time Pro Bowler is just 34 years old and could help multiple teams that are dealing with quarterback struggles and uncertainty. Carr retired before last season due to a severe right shoulder injury, but it seems he is set for a comeback.Â
Now, in the offseason, he just needs a team to trade a few late-round picks for him, and he could make an immediate impact for teams such as the Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders, or Arizona Cardinals.

Derek Carr Stats
Carr’s stats are pretty solid. In more than 150 NFL games, he has recorded 257 touchdowns and 112 interceptions.
Precision and a highly underrated deep ball have been his biggest assets, but he hasn’t been very lucky in terms of team support and has often landed on dysfunctional teams.
The Tyler Shough Show
After the Carr retirement news, all of the New Orleans Saints fan base were pretty concerned about the expectations, but a second-round rookie in Tyler Shough, stepped up big and ended up bringing back the joy to the team. Shough showed out in his first season, almost walking away with the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.Â
Maturity, rushing upside, and natural leadership have positioned Tyler Shough as the franchise quarterback for the Saints, whom they have been searching for. Because of this, they do not necessarily need Carr as a starter, though he could still provide value as a veteran mentor.
The issue is that Carr is likely looking for a real opportunity to compete, not just a supporting role on the sidelines. That said, the Saints are set to listen to offers and send the veteran to the team offering the better assets.Â
The Perfect FitÂ
Carr is poised to dominate NFL headlines with his potential return, and the Indianapolis Colts should be the frontrunners to land him. With his maturity and leadership, Carr could greatly benefit a young Colts team that features talent at every position and is looking to make a Super Bowl push next season.
Indianapolis Colts’ QB Issues
Taking advantage of one of the easiest starts to the NFL schedule, the Colts opened the season with a 7-1 record and were dominating the NFL standings. The team had an MVP candidate in quarterback Daniel Jones, but injuries derailed the team, and it filled the season with disappointment and a lot of doubts.
There is now some worry about the future of Jones, and this could open the door for the team to make a trade at the position. Indianapolis must consider all options this offseason, even a trade of Carr, to help put this team into a position for a Super Bowl title.
