The Miami Dolphins have already begun to make changes this offseason, with Jon-Eric Sullivan and Jeff Hafley taking over the leadership in Miami.

While the futures of Tua Tagovailao and Tyreek Hill are up in the air, the Dolphins have a lot of work to do this offseason. Of the top positions of need, the Dolphins’ bleak cornerback room should be the top priority.

With such a clear need at cornerback this offseason, CBS Sports’ Zachary Pereles identified veteran Super Bowl champion and 21 career interception cornerback Rasul Douglas as the player the Dolphins should re-sign this offseason.

Dolphins urged to re-sign Rasul Douglas

“The Dolphins figure to be overhauled under new coach Jeff Hafley,” Pereles writes, “but keeping Douglas as a solid veteran presence would be a big help.”

Miami has a major cornerback need this offseason, and simply keeping Douglas on the roster makes the most sense. Not only is he familiar with the team at this point, but he is also familiar with Sullivan from his Green Bay days.

Douglas played for the Green Bay Packers during the 2021, 2022, and 2023 seasons. His familiarity will help his odds of staying in Miami, as Sullivan has already seen what Douglas can offer.

The nine-year NFL veteran is a solid cornerback and would be a nice option for the Miami secondary as they look to revamp the defense.

Coming off a strong 0225, with two interceptions to reach 21 for his NFL career, the former Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl champion is a solid veteran presence for any team going forward.

And for the Dolphins, who are in dire need of cornerback help, Douglas is the exact kind of veteran that’s worth re-signing. While it might not be a long-term deal, keeping Douglas in Miami is the best for both parties.
