Seattle’s reported internal candidates included quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko (who’s since taken the Raiders OC position), pass game coordinator Jake Peetz, run game specialist Justin Outten, and tight ends coach Mack Brown. Fleury has never been an offensive coordinator at the collegiate or NFL level, but has prior experience as a defensive coordinator at FCS school Sacred Heart, as well as special teams coordinator at his alma mater Towson University, with whom he played quarterback.
Brian Fleury’s NFL coaching experience
Fleury’s NFL background dates back to 2013, when he was a quality control coach for the Buffalo Bills. The bulk of his time in the pros has been with Kyle Shanahan, who hired him in 2019 as a defensive quality control coach, then an offensive quality control coach, and most recently a combo of tight ends coach and run game coordinator. During his time as tight ends coach he’s had the pleasure of working with and developing George Kittle into one of the best in the business.
Outside of coaching, Fleury spent three seasons with the Miami Dolphins as a research analyst and Director of Football Research.

As you can tell, Fleury has worn many hats but has never had the play-sheet in his hands to call the offense. This is a big opportunity for a longtime Shanahan assistant to work with the Super Bowl champions.
