If the Indianapolis Colts are going to address the tight end position in free agency, who are the best available options?
With Tyler Warren leading this position group, tight end is far from a pressing need this offseason for GM Chris Ballard. However, it is still a need.
Mo Alie-Cox and Drew Ogletree are both free agents — although with Ogletree being a restricted free agent, he likely returns.
But in addition to building out the depth of this position, Shane Steichen uses his fair share of two tight end sets, so having a capable blocking presence to pair with Warren will be quite valuable for this Colts offense.
Ogletree can provide that, and perhaps the Colts bring back Alie-Cox on another short-term deal to help shoulder those blocking duties.

That said, because the Colts have Warren, I wouldn’t expect Ballard to invest heavily in this position from a salary-cap standpoint during free agency.
But if the Colts want to get younger or go a different direction as they build out the tight end room behind Warren, here are the best available free agent options, with help from PFF’s big board.
