The Broncos expect to hire Doug Belk as their next defensive backs coach, a source confirmed Sunday to The Denver Gazette.

Belk, 38, spent the last two seasons as the secondary coach at the University of Southern California. He was previously the associate head coach/defensive coordinator at Houston. Belk got his start as a graduate assistant at Alabama under former head coach Nick Saban. Belk is a former Division II college quarterback at Carson-Newman (Tennessee).

Belk will make the leap from college to the NFL after the Broncos parted ways with cornerbacks coach Addison Lynch.

Belk is the second confirmed coaching hire among several vacancies this offseason.

The Broncos fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi. He was replaced by quarterbacks coach Davis Webb. The Broncos filled his position with offensive assistant Logan Kilgore. Denver still has an opening at wide receivers coach after parting ways with Keary Colbert.

The Broncos also lost defensive pass game coordinator Jim Leonhard and senior offensive assistant Pete Carmichael to job promotions with the Bills.
