Head coach Mike Macdonald and the Seattle Seahawks lost quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Seattle Seahawks quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko more than interviewed for the offensive coordinator role with the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Janocko accepted the position too.

Just a little more than a hour after reporting Janocko had an interviewed scheduled with the Raiders, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Raiders are expected to hire Janocko as their next offensive coordinator.

Seahawks QB coach Andrew Janocko now is expected to be hired as the Raiders offensive coordinator, per sources. Janocko once again will reunite with Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak, whom he worked with in New Orleans and Seattle. https://t.co/H4Zf10Nv5G

Janocko will be joining Raiders new head coach Klint Kubiak in Las Vegas. Kubiak also coached with the Seahawks as offensive coordinator this past season.

Before Sunday, Janocko was reportedly a candidate to replace Kubiak as Seahawks OC. But minutes before news broke that Janocko was officially joining the Raiders, Schefter reported the Seahawks hired San Francisco 49ers tight ends coach Brian Fleury as their new offensive coordinator.

Janocko spent one season with the Seahawks. During 2026, he will be coaching under Kubiak with a fourth different team.

In 2024, Janocko was the New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach while Kubiak served as the team’s offensive coordinator. The two coaches also held the same roles with the Minnesota Vikings during the 2021 campaign.

Seahawks fans have to be of a certain age for this to matter. But the organization lost its offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach to a former AFC West rival.

The Seahawks played in the AFC West with the then Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders from 1976-2001. In their 50-year history, the Seahawks have only faced the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Rams more often than the Raiders during the regular season.

The Seahawks also faced the Raiders in the playoffs twice following the 1983 and 1984 campaigns.

Seahawks QB Coach Andrew Janocko Joining Raiders Staff: Report

Janocko’s move to Las Vegas doesn’t come as a major surprise for anyone who was following the latest updates on the Seahawks OC opening.

It’s not shocking for anyone aware of the coach’s history with Kubiak either.

The pair first coached together with the Vikings in 2019. During that season, Janocko was an assistant offensive line coach while Kubiak coached quarterbacks. In 2020, Kubiak remained in his role while Janocko coached wide receivers.

Before Mike Zimmer’s final Vikings season in 2021, Kubiak received a promotion to offensive coordinator. Janocko then filled Kubiak’s old role as quarterbacks coach.

The two coaches went their separate ways after the Vikings fired Zimmer following 2021. Janocko coached with the Chicago Bears while Kubiak went to the Denver Broncos and 49ers.

They reunited with the Saints in 2024. They then had the same roles with the Seahawks this past season.

Seahawks Offense With Kubiak & Janocko in 2025

The two high-ranking offensive assistants spent just one season in Seattle. But it was certainly a memorable one.

During 2025, the Seahawks were third in points scored and eighth in total yards. They were also ranked second in net yards per pass attempt and 10th in rushing yards.

The campaign ended with the Seahawks winning their second Super Bowl.

Quarterback Sam Darnold began his career resurgence with the Vikings last season. But under Kubiak and Janocko this past season, Darnold was second in the NFL with an 8.5 yards per pass attempt average.

Janocko will take that resume to Las Vegas. Meanwhile, the Seahawks somewhat unexpectedly filled their offensive coordinator opening with an external candidate.

Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald reportedly wanted to replace Kubiak with an internal hire.

It’s not clear as of Sunday if the Seahawks preferred Janocko for the OC opening over Fleury. For what it’s worth, Schefter reported the Seahawks adding Fleury to their staff before the Raiders hired Janocko.
