The Baltimore Ravens traded outside linebacker Odafe Oweh to the Los Angeles Chargers after Week 5 in exchange for safety Alohi Gilman. The move benefited both teams, as Gilman brought experience and depth to Baltimore’s secondary while Oweh got the fresh start he needed.
In five games with the Ravens, Oweh recorded zero sacks and just 10 tackles. But with the Chargers — and under now-Ravens head coach Jesse Minter — Oweh quickly found his stride. He finished the season with 7.5 sacks and carried that momentum into the postseason, posting three sacks in a Wild Card loss.
Oweh’s turnaround wasn’t just about production, either. He looked more confident rushing the passer, played faster off the edge, and seemed to fit perfectly into the way Minter wanted to attack protections. That matters now more than ever, because Baltimore is entering a new era defensively and will be searching for pass rushers who can thrive in Minter’s scheme.
Oweh is set to hit free agency when the new league year begins, which raises an obvious question: Would the Ravens and Oweh be open to a reunion now that Minter is in the fold? Baltimore has never been shy about bringing back former players, especially when the fit is right and the price makes sense.
If the Ravens strike out on the top edge rushers in free agency, Oweh could emerge as one of the most realistic and intriguing options. He already knows the organization, and now he has proven he can produce in Minter’s system — something that can’t be said for every available pass rusher. With the Ravens expected to have limited cap flexibility, a reunion might not just be possible. It could end up being one of Baltimore’s smartest offseason moves.
