San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy appeared in just nine games during the 2025 NFL season, missing eight contests due to a turf toe injury suffered in Week 1. Still, the former final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft did more than enough to earn recognition from Pro Football Focus (PFF).
PFF recently unveiled the bottom 21 players on its annual top 101 list, with the remaining rankings to be released throughout the week. Purdy checked in at No. 81 among the league’s top performers.
“Purdy missed a significant portion of the season, but he was outstanding when he was on the field for the 49ers,” the PFF team wrote. “His 82.6 PFF passing grade ranked sixth among quarterbacks, while his 75.7 PFF rushing grade ranked eighth.”
Despite limited action, Purdy finished with 2,167 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions while completing 69.4% of his passes. He posted a 100.5 passer rating—the third time in his four NFL seasons he has reached at least that mark.
According to PFF, Purdy was especially dangerous in rhythm.
“He was especially effective when getting the ball out within 2.5 seconds,” the analysts added. “On those plays, Purdy earned an 87.7 PFF overall grade, which ranked fifth in the NFL, and his 118.6 passer rating ranked third.”
The 49ers battled significant adversity throughout the season, yet still finished 12-5. Purdy went 7-2 as a starter, winning six consecutive games down the stretch before falling in the regular-season finale to the Seattle Seahawks.
San Francisco advanced in the postseason with a playoff victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, but its Super Bowl aspirations ended in the Divisional Round against Seattle.
Even in a shortened campaign, Purdy’s efficiency and command of Kyle Shanahan’s offense reinforced his standing among the NFL’s top quarterbacks.
