The Los Angeles Chargers once again suffered a disappointing end in 2025.
The team had another impressive season, finishing 11-6, but lost in the first round of the playoffs to the New England Patriots. The Chargers desperately want to get over the hump and actually start winning in the postseason, so they need to make some big moves this offseason.
The wide receiver spot is definitely one position that needs to be addressed. Ladd McConkey is a solid option and Quentin Johnston has shown flashes, but the team needs another proven option.
A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles has been one of the best receivers in the league, but he’s made it known he’s not that happy in his current situation. As a result, Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports identified some teams who could trade for the veteran star.
Sullivan thinks the Chargers are a great option for Brown and believes the team could offer a deal like this:
Eagles receive: 2026 third-round pick (No. 86 overall), 2026 sixth-round pick (No. 203 overall)Chargers receive: WR A.J. Brown, 2027 seventh-round pick
Regarding this proposed pairing, Sullivan offered the following analysis:
Ladd McConkey took a step back from his sensational rookie season, but is still a solid option in the passing game. However, Keenan Allen, who turns 34 in April, led the team with 122 targets throughout the year. Putting a talent like Brown in this mix with new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel pulling the strings could be just what Herbert and the unit need to go to the next level.
As Sullivan mentioned, McConkey didn’t develop into a true No. 1 in 2025 and Keenan Allen isn’t getting any younger.
The Chargers brought in Mike McDaniel to be the offensive coordinator this offseason and he has an impressive track record with receivers. McDaniel got some elite seasons out of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, so Brown could be intrigued by playing in the coach’s offense.
Brown would also clearly be the top option and would get to play in one of the biggest markets in the NFL.
In 2025, Brown played in 15 games for the Eagles and caught 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns. The Ole Miss product has eclipsed 1,000 yards in six of his first seven NFL seasons.
