The Indianapolis Colts could look to move on from wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. this offseason.

The Athletic’s James Boyd believes Pittman is a cut candidate for Indianapolis, as the veteran lost his top receiver spot to Alec Pierce and is coming off a down year.
Boyd added that cutting Pittman would save the Colts $24 million:
“Pittman totaled a career-high seven receiving TDs in 2025, but also had just 784 receiving yards, which was his lowest mark since his rookie season in 2020. The veteran wideout, who turns 29 in October, has a $29 million cap hit in 2026. There is no way Indianapolis will pay him that salary, especially after Alec Pierce supplanted him as the team’s No. 1 receiver. Pittman could either restructure his contract to reduce his salary and remain with the Colts, or they could release him. The latter choice would create $24 million in cap space with just $5 million in dead money.”
Pittman has been a reliable playmaker for the Colts over the last few years, but the franchise could cut him loose and hand the keys over to Pierce and Josh Downs, assuming they are able to re-sign Pierce.

If Indianapolis releases Pittman, the Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, and Pittsburgh Steelers should have interest.
Buffalo’s receiver room is incredibly lackluster outside of Khalil Shakir. Adding Pittman would be a fantastic move from general manager Brandon Beane, as the 28-year-old would step in as a top playmaker for quarterback Josh Allen due to his premier red-zone abilities and savvy route running.
Denver and Pittsburgh already have No. 1 receivers in Courtland Sutton and DK Metcalf, but signing Pittman to serve as the WR2 if he gets cut by the Colts would be incredibly beneficial for both franchises.
Overall, it remains to be seen whether Indianapolis moves on from Pittman in the coming months. However, if Pittman does land on the market, the Bills, Broncos, and Steelers should be top landing spots for the USC product.
