One radio host believes a trade of Amon-Ra St. Brown could be possible.
Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is about as valuable as it gets for the Detroit Lions, as he was ranked fifth overall among all NFL players at his position in total receptions and yards accumulated.
When it comes to “untouchable” players, most would agree that St. Brown fits that bill. However, one particular Detroit radio sports host on the Lions’ flagship of 97.1 The Ticket believes that there would be an ideal package for Lions GM Brad Holmes to consider actually parting ways with St. Brown for.
Rico Beard, who is one-half of the wildly popular afternoon drive “Valenti and Rico” show, one of the highest-rated afternoon drive FM sports shows in the country, answered in the affirmative when a caller asked if he’d consider trading St. Brown if it meant that the Lions received DT Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs in return.
His reasoning was that even though the trade of St. Brown would sting, the Lions still have talented wideouts like Isaac TeSlaa and Jameson Williams, and could target a veteran wide receiver as a third option via free-agency or trade.
“I’d do it, it would hurt, but you’ve got TeSlaa here, you’ve got Jamo (Jameson Williams), here, you could go and find a veteran wide receiver if you need them,” Beard said when asked by a caller if he’d do the trade if he were GM Brad Holmes. “Yes, and you’re adding Chris Jones to go along with Aidan Hutchinson? I’d do that trade in a heartbeat.”

Detroit Lions Fans Immediately Began Pushing Back On The Proposed Deal
While it wasn’t Beard that suggested the trade, he soon began catching some heat from fans on social media that weren’t happy that he said he’d do the trade if he were Holmes.
One fan responded, “Wow. Your tone setter on offense. Heart of your identity & rebuild. Top flight WR in a passing league. Jones is set to have the rapid decline in skill set. Heck no.”
This fan said, “No. This is a bad idea. I like Chris Jones and he is good, but he is also 10 yrs in the league.”
“Amon Ra is the heartbeat of the offense and is a guy you never get rid of. It’s not always about on the field only you don’t get rid of the team leaders,” another fan responded.
Finally, this fan exclaimed, “Nooooooo. How many teammates state St. Brown is the heart of this team and everything they stand for. Terrible take.”

Chiefs DT Chris Jones Is A Seven-Time Pro Bowler
Despite the opposition by Lions fans to acquiring him if it meant giving up St. Brown, it’s hard to look past the accomplishments of Jones during his career.
Jones has earned seven Pro Bowl nominations while also earning six All-Pro designations, and he’ll likely have a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio when his career comes to a close.
That being said, giving up the heartbeat of the offense would be a mistake on the part of the Lions, even if it meant landing a potential future Hall of Famer on defense in return.
