Sugar Land and Missouri City residents can partake in early voting for the March 3 election from Feb. 17-27.

What residents need to know

Residents can cast their votes at any of the 30 early voting locations countywide, which are open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Feb. 17-21 and Feb. 23-27, according to Fort Bend County’s election website. Some locations will also be open from noon-6 p.m. Feb. 22.

Additionally, applications for ballot by mail must be received by Feb. 20.

On the ballot

Registered voters may cast ballots in either Texas’ Republican or Democratic primary, but not both. Third-party candidates will appear on the ballot in November.

Several judges, justices and nonbinding propositions will also be on the ballot.

Zooming out

Voters in the Democratic primary will be able to vote on 13 proposed propositions on issues including expanding Medicaid, supporting reproductive rights and legalizing cannabis.

Meanwhile, voters in the Republican primary will be able to vote on 10 proposed propositions on issues including phasing out property taxes, enacting term limits and ending public services for illegal immigrants.

Looking ahead

Election Day is March 3 with voting locations open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., according to the Texas secretary of state’s website. Registered voters can cast their ballot at any of the 77 locations countywide on election day, according to the county’s website.
