Ronnie Hickman was reportedly involved in a scary situation on Monday, which reportedly required the Cleveland Browns safety to be treated for injuries and discharged from a New York City Hospital.
The New York Post was first to report that Hickman was jumped at a popular Lower East Side hotel in NYC known as Sixty Les. An apparent group of four assailants approached Hickman in the lobby of the hotel around 4:30 a.m. and a dispute ensued.

The attack left Hickman needing to go to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries and, ultimately discharged.
It’s unclear at this time if Hickman’s attackers recognized him as an NFL player when they targeted him. No arrests have been made at this time.
In a statement, the Browns made it known they’re aware of the situation.
“Safety Ronnie Hickman was a victim of assault early Monday morning at a New York City hotel,” a team spokesperson said.
“Ronnie was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital after the incident, was later released, and is home resting with his family.”

Hickman is a New Jersey native, hailing from De Paul Catholic High School in Passaic. The now 24-year-old played his college ball at Ohio State from 2019-2022, before going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft.
He wound up signing with the Browns several weeks later as an undrafted rookie. Later that summer he earned a spot on the 53-man roster.
Over his first three seasons, Hickman has gradually carved out a productive role for himself in the Browns defense. The 2025 campaign was considered a breakout year for Hickman, as he became a full-time starter in Cleveland’s secondary alongside Grant Delpit.
Hickman played in all 17 regular season games, racking up a career high 103 combined tackles, including one for a loss. Hickman also snared two interceptions, including one against one of his hometown team’s the New York Jets in Week 10.

He’s in line to become a restricted free agent next month, but is widely expected to re-sign with the Browns, who will have the ability to tender him and match any offer another team could potentially make to acquire his services.
