Isaiah Likely never really got a chance to fully spread his wings with the Baltimore Ravens.

Because of the presence of fellow tight end Mark Andrews, Likely was never the top dog in the TE room.
Now in free agency, Likely can pursue such a chance.
Given how he played in his moments to shine in Baltimore, Likely still has some star potential waiting to be tapped into. It’s all about landing in the right place.
One logical outcome wouldn’t require a particularly far move for Likely: the Washington Commanders. ESPN’s Matt Bowen names them as the best fit for Likely in a new article that he released on Tuesday.
“With the Commanders making the transition to new offensive coordinator David Blough, Likely could replace free agent Zach Ertz as the middle-of-the-field target for quarterback Jayden Daniels,” Bowen writes. “Likely would bring more upside with his catch-and-run ability. A move player in the formation, Likely would also be schemed to create underneath one-on-ones. He had 27 catches for 301 yards and a touchdown last season.”

Ertz certainly seems like a retirement candidate, but even if he doesn’t hang his cleats up, it might be wise for the Commanders to get younger at tight end.
Likely would be the type of addition that could propel Washington toward a bounceback season.
The Commanders were so good in Daniels’ rookie season in 2024. But last fall, in part because of injuries to the young QB, Washington stumbled back to its losing ways.
To turn that around, the Commanders need to upgrade at the right spots. Likely would be an upgrade, and potentially not even a super costly one. He’s worth considering in the nation’s capital, for sure.
