The Chicago Bears could cut ties with tight end Cole Kmet this offseason.

NFL.com’s Matt Okada lists Kmet as a top cut candidate for Chicago, as the emergence of Colston Loveland has left the veteran very expendable.

“Kmet enjoyed his best campaigns in 2022 and ’23, and he’s largely average as a run blocker. Combine his decreasing production with the price point and Kmet doesn’t make much sense as a TE2 behind Loveland.”

Kmet’s production has taken a dip over the last two seasons. After posting 73 receptions for 719 yards and six touchdowns in 2023, the 26-year-old tallied under 500 yards in 2024 and 2025 and got his starting spot taken by Loveland.

The Bears could save up to $10 million in cap space by moving on from Kmet, and given that he is no longer a starter, it feels like a no-brainer move to release the Notre Dame product.

If Chicago cuts Kmet, the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, and Tennessee Titans should have interest.

Denver could use an upgrade over Evan Engram at right end, and though Kmet is coming off two straight down years, he could be productive in Sean Payton’s offense as one of the top receiving options.

Kansas City could lose Travis Kelce to reitement, and if that happens, Kmet would be a solid replacement who would fit well in Andy Reid’s offense due to his versatility as a pass catcher and run blocker.

Chig Okonkwo is set to hit free agency, so Tennessee could be in the market for a tight end to pair with Gunnar Helm. A duo of Kmet and Helm would give the Titans the best of both worlds at the position.

Even if Kmet gets let go by the Bears, he should have a plethora of teams interested in him in free agency, including the Broncos, Chiefs, and Titans.
