Head coach Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions
After missing the NFL playoffs in 2025, the Detroit Lions need to go back to the drawing board and determine which areas to address on both sides of the football heading into what will be an important offseason for Dan Campbell and company.
One major issue for the Lions over the past few years under Campbell has been on defense, which needs to be addressed to improve this team’s roster ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
Joey Bosa a Solid Option for Lions?

Although there’s no question that Aidan Hutchinson is a stud and one of the best players in the league at his position, the All-Pro defensive end needs help in Detroit.
One potential option for the Lions heading into the offseason is veteran pass rusher Joey Bosa, who spent the 2025 campaign with the Buffalo Bills.
Although Bosa is not the player he once was with the Los Angeles Chargers, he might still be a step in the right direction for the Lions for 2026, as ESPN’s Matt Bowen suggests.
The Lions had 16 sacks on third down last season (tied for 15th in the league), so Detroit could add Bosa to elevate its sub-package pass rush. Bosa, who had five sacks with the Bills in 2025, fits well opposite Aidan Hutchinson with his speed-to-power production and the effort level to clean up late in plays.
After having a few seasons filled with injury problems, Bosa played 15 games during the 2025 campaign, and as Bowen wrote, he had 5.0 sacks for a third straight season (6.5 in 2023), making him an intriguing option to play with Hutchinson moving forward.
Amon-Ra St. Brown Sends Strong Message on 2026 NFL Season

One Lions star that was more annoyed about missing the NFL playoffs than most was wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who is without a doubt one of the best players in the league at his position.
St. Brown recently talked about the offseason and how he feels the Lions can be “real dangerous” in 2026
“I think we can be real dangerous,” St. Brown told ESPN while visiting Detroit’s Durfee Elementary-Middle School for a school supply giveaway on Jan. 6. “And not even just Isaac [TeSlaa], too. Whoever, whether it’s Kalif [Raymond], Dominic [Lovett]. I feel like we’ve got a really good receiver room, and I think that was one thing that Scottie talked to us before we left was let’s take that next step as a receiver group. He feels like, and so do we, that we can be the best in the league, so that’s something that we’ll be striving for next year.”
Despite a disappointing 9-8 finish to the season, St. Brown earned All-Pro honors for a third straight season and continues to cement himself as arguably the best player on the team in Detroit and the heart and soul of the squad.
St. Brown and company seem highly motivated to right the ship next season and will need to step up, as the Chicago Bears are now emerging as a force to be reckoned with in the NFC North, along with the Green Bay Packers.
