T
he NFL offseason is in full swing. Now that the Seattle Seahawks are the new Super Bowl champions, ending an eventful 2025 campaign, the focus turns to 2026 where all 32 teams will work tirelessly to build a roster capable of winning it all. For some teams, this offseason is about building off of the promise shown in ’25 and getting over the hump. For other teams, like the San Francisco 49ers, fixing major issues that held them back is essential for a bounce back 2026.
The 49ers finished 12-5 and returned to the playoffs after a one year absence but dealt with several injuries that prevented them from being a real threat– eventually losing to the Seahawks in the NFC divisional playoffs. One area that was a problem for the 49ers was pass rush, with the team finishing near the bottom of the league in sacks– largely due to the absence of star pass rusher Nick Bosa. In the market for edge rush help, the 49ers have several options in how they want to address that need, whether it be through the draft or free agency. But, if a recent Instagram post from Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby is any indication, the 49ers should try and find a way to get Crosby in San Francisco.
Crosby References the Bay Area in Instagram Post
Crosby has been at the center of trade rumors for quite some time now, with those rumors escalating in recent months when the Raiders opted to keep Crosby out of the final few games of the ’25 season. Now, it is likely that Crosby will never suit up for the Raiders again and if traded, he will draw a lot of interest– with multiple teams already calling the Raiders to inquire about him. But in a recent Instagram story that he posted, Crosby teased a song and mentioned the Bay Area, suggesting that he could be interested in coming to play in the Bay Area.
“What can I say, the boy get paid, brand new crib in the Bay. We done touched down in the Bay like Steph and Klay,” Crosby said in the video.
The song, called Oakland Pt. 2 by Karri, talks about how he misses Oakland and wishes he could move back. Crosby, who was on the Raiders during their final season in Oakland in 2019, could have posted this story in a random moment and it could mean nothing, but for those that like to read into everything, the Crosby story will turn heads.
Could the 49ers Swing a Trade for Crosby?
The 49ers need a guy like Crosby. While the 49ers have a strong pass rush when Bosa is healthy, with him out this season, the 49ers averaged a league low of 1.2 sacks per game. Finishing with 10 sacks this season, Crosby finished with half the number of sacks individually as the 49ers did as an entire team (20). If the 49ers were to land Crosby, it would be a massive boost to a depleted defensive line.
But getting him won’t come cheap. A five time Pro Bowler and a two time All-Pro selection, Crosby is an established superstar in the NFL and the Raiders will want a massive haul if they are to give up their most talented player.
