After the news dropped that the Miami Dolphins were releasing star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, rumors started swirling about his next landing spot. Hill was released mainly due to financial reasons, but he is also coming off a brutal injury that he suffered during the NFL season.
*PREDICTION*
Letting go of Hill saves the Dolphins around $22.9 against the cap for next season, and Miami is now looking to retool the roster for the future. But replacing the veteran wideout won’t be easy for the Îolphins.
Hill was limited to just four games this year due to the injury, putting up 21 catches for 265 yards and one touchdown. His production has dropped a little in recent years, but the 8-time Pro Bowler can still perform well.
2023 was his breakout season with Miami, and it saw him post 119 catches for 1,799 yards and 13 touchdowns. Any team could use the skill set of Hill, and his release only adds to the overall strength of this free agency class.
Multiple teams have been linked to Hill, including his old stomping grounds, the Kansas City Chiefs. However, the veteran may take his time to see his options, weighing everything in his free agency.

New Orleans Saints Could Sign Tyreek Hill?
With Hill likely to keep his options open, the veteran wide receiver could always look to consider the New Orleans Saints. While the Saints did miss the playoffs this past year, the team did play much better down the stretch, and there is now a pathway forward for them to find more success.
New Orleans traded away their speed threat in Rashid Shaheed, and Hill could be the perfect replacement. With young quarterback Tyler Shough looking to take that next step after a strong rookie year, Hill could help round out this roster.
In 11 games (nine starts), Shough proved that he could be the franchise guy for New Orleans, despite some early concerns around him. For the year, the rookie threw for 2,384 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Shough will only keep getting better with time, and he was excellent down the stretch of the season once he got used to the NFL game. Giving him more weapons to throw the ball to could unlock this offense, and it would benefit everyone on the roster.
Putting Hill next to Chris Olave would give New Orleans one of the strongest wide receiver duos in all of the NFL, with teams scrambling to defend them. The two could complement each other well, and this Saints attack could be tough to stop all year.
Saints head coach Kellen Moore got better as the season went on, and his offensive scheme could work well with Hill in the rotation. There is a lot of optimism around this organization heading into the offseason, and it could appeal to Hill.
Playing in the NFC South also gives the Saints a chance to win the division next season, which could have Hill back in the postseason immediately. There may be better teams going after Hill this offseason, now that he is a free agent, but the fit with New Orleans seems to be strong.
