There was no shortage of Carolina Panthers long snapper news on Tuesday.
As announced this afternoon, Thomas Fletcher has been hired as the special teams coordinator for Youngstown State University. The former long snapper spent his lone NFL run with the Panthers.

Despite already having a seasoned long snapper in JJ Jansen, Carolina (under former head coach Matt Rhule) selected Fletcher in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The University of Alabama product was one of 11 picks by the Panthers in a class headlined by cornerback Jaycee Horn, offensive lineman Brady Christensen, tight end Tommy Tremble and running back Chuba Hubbard.
Fletcher would sustain a hip injury that sidelined him from what would have been his rookie year. He’d then be waived in the summer of the following season.
Coincidentally, Jansen—also on Tuesday—signed a new one-year deal to return to the Panthers for an 18th campaign.
