NFL fans are praying for Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith following a recent heartfelt post.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer took to X over the weekend to remember his late father, Emmitt Smith Jr., who died on Valentine’s Day in 2023.

“On this day, my dad went to his heavenly home. Happy Valentine’s Day Pop,” Emmitt Smith said.
The post received 42,000 likes and more than 1,500 replies as of Tuesday morning as fans sent their condolences to Smith.
“Honoring a father on the day he went home to heaven says so much about love that never fades,” one fan said. “Praying for comfort and peace as those memories resurface today. A father’s impact lasts far beyond this life.”
Another added: “An incredible man. May he rest in peace. May God be with you and your family.”
Emmitt Smith, the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, won three Super Bowls during his time with the Cowboys. He was the MVP of Super Bowl XXVIII.

Smith was also named the NFL MVP in 1993 and earned All-Pro honors five times, including four first-team selections.
When Smith’s father died in 2023 he credited him with his football career.
“The man who inspired me to play the game of football has transitioned to be [with] the Lord,” he said at the time. “I will miss your timely advice but will hold on to the things you and my first love taught me, my brothers and sisters. (Love) U Pop.”
