FRISCO — The Cowboys’ newly hired defensive coordinator Christian Parker spent the last two seasons with the Eagles as the passing game coordinator/defensive backs. Parker, who was introduced to the media on Thursday, was asked whether he watched the HBO series, Hard Knocks on the NFC East to get some intel on the Cowboys.

He did not.

But he did watch the Netflix series on Jerry Jones, called the Gambler.

“I was snowed-in in Philly and accepted the job,” Parker said. “I was there and couldn’t get really out. We were just doing Zoom interviews all day and I started watching a couple of those episodes to try to educate myself a little bit.”

When it comes to the hate between Eagles and Cowboys fans, Parker said it’s real and that it was a little awkward putting on Cowboys’ colors. He got over it.

“I think all division rivalries are a great part of the game and why you do it,” he said. “That’s what makes it special when you have those rivalries. That usually means you’re playing for something. You don’t have rivalries if you’re a bad team. You have rivalries when you have significant opponents and you know those games are high-leverage situations. That’s when the best players show up.”
