Overton entered college football as one of the most highly regarded defensive recruits in the country. A unanimous five-star prospect out of Milton High School, he reclassified to enroll early at Texas A&M and immediately stepped into SEC competition as a freshman.

After two seasons with the Aggies, Overton transferred to Alabama and carved out a significant role along the Crimson Tide defensive front. He played in all 13 games in 2024 and 2025, expanding his snap share and responsibility within a deep, NFL-caliber defensive unit.
In 2025, he started 12 of 13 games and finished with 42 tackles, six tackles for loss, and four sacks while earning preseason All-America recognition. His ability to play both as a true edge and as a hand-in-the-dirt defensive lineman gives him valuable alignment flexibility.
