Former Notre Dame long snapper JJ Jansen has re-signed with the Carolina Panthers.
Few NFL players play into their 40s, but former Notre Dame longer snapper JJ Jansen is one of the exceptions.
The 18-year NFL veteran re-signed with the Carolina Panthers, who he has been with since 2009. Jansen went undrafted following his Irish career, and signed with Green Bay Packers in 2008 as a free agent. He never saw the field with Green Bay before heading to his what turned out to be his final NFL home.
Jansen is the longest tenured player in the league and will add to his record for games played with the Panthers. He has played in 264 games, which is over 40 more than the next player.
While he went undrafted, Jansen has had a very good career, and has earned a solid living. It will be interesting to see how long he wants to play, but we know that he’ll be on the field this coming season with the Panthers.
