One of the hottest topics in the city of Cleveland these days is quarterback Shedeur Sanders. His slide in the 2025 NFL draft was highly publicized, and you couldn’t watch the draft’s coverage without hearing of it before and after every selection. In a recent interview, Shedeur chalked it up to one thing.
His bloodlines.

It is no secret that Shedeur is the son of one of the most polarizing players in NFL history, and is among the most divisive at the collegiate level, Deion Sanders. You will find him on a variety of platforms, no matter where you turn. This isn’t a shock to those in the know; Coach Prime’s motto has become, “I ain’t hard to find.”
When discussing the vitriol that seemed to follow Shedeur for the last several months, he stated that this is towards the elder Sanders. “99% of hatred is toward pops.” He went on to say, “It’s just the older generation that does it to me rather than the younger people. Because when I come in person, there’s no negativity I see. But it’s all over online.”
The Browns stopped the Shedeur Sanders slide in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft. He joins fellow draftee, Dillon Gabriel, in a quarterback room along with former first-round pick Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco. According to most depth chart projections, Flacco, Pickett, and Gabriel are all ahead of Sanders.
The Browns are set to have their next round of OTAs (organized team activities) on May 27-28, May 30, Jun. 3-4, Jun. 6, and Jun. 16-19. Mandatory minicap will happen on Jun. 10-12.
