Maxx Crosby’s future with the Raiders seems to be as uncertain as it has ever been, but at least one media personality covering the team doesn’t think the All-Pro edge rusher has played his final game in Silver & Black.
Asked on Wednesday if he believes Crosby is going to be traded before the 2026 season, Raider Nation Radio host Q Myers said he thinks Crosby will be back in Las Vegas.
“My gut feeling tells me that [Crosby will be with the Raiders week one],” Myers told Zach Gelb of 365 Sports.
“That’s based on the fact that I don’t think that he wants to be the bad guy. I don’t think he’s the one that wants to come out and say, ‘Yeah, please trade me.’ I think in an ideal world for Maxx he would just get traded. The Raiders would say, ‘Well, this is the best interest of the team’ and move him. I don’t think he wants to disappoint Raider fans.”
“This is a guy that was a fourth-round pick. This is a guy that nobody really believed in and only had one offer going to college. He’s been a underdog his whole career and really made something of it. I think he feels some loyalty to the Raiders, especially owner Mark Davis. I just don’t think he wants to be that guy and unless some team comes to the Raiders and blows them out of the water with some great offer, I don’t think he gets moved.”
In terms of the timetable for a potential trade involving Crosby, the Raiders are probably going to have to wait until he can pass a physical before a trade can happen.
Crosby had surgery on his knee in January, and it turned out to be more than a simple meniscus trim.
“[Meniscus repair] is usually months, not weeks,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said this week about Crosby’s ongoing rehab.
“So I don’t think he would be cleared to get traded in March… unless somebody wanted to take a leap of faith,” Rapoport continued. “So you’re probably looking at more [like] the draft or around August for a possible trade. And then [the Raiders] promoted his position coach to defensive coordinator to which one person very involved in the situation said to me ‘The plot thickens.’ So it’s very, very complicated as to where this goes.”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter weighed in on Crosby’s situation on Wednesday, and he doesn’t think the Raiders want to trade Crosby.
If they decide to trade him, Schefter believes the Raiders will want multiple first-round picks in return.
“I was told that the Raiders don’t want to trade [Maxx Crosby], and if they even contemplated it, then it would take a Micah Parsons type package,” Schefter told ESPN’s 97.5 The Fanatic.
“That’s what I was told. Do I think they are getting two firsts and a player? No. Do I think they want to trade him? No. Do I think he’ll be traded like AJ Brown [could be]? That’ll change by the week… Any deal involving Maxx Crosby, I would think for the Raiders to make that deal, would take a first-round pick at minimum.”
Prior to the 2025 season, the Packers sent Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks (2026, 2027) to the Cowboys for Parsons. As of now, there aren’t many who believe the compensation for Crosby would be two first-round picks and a Pro Bowl caliber player.
But if a Super Bowl contending team or two get desperate in the months ahead… maybe don’t be quick to rule out any kind of compensation.
