The Dallas Cowboys ended the 2025 season with a disappointing 7-9-1 record, which was derailed by a ton of injuries at key positions. However, quarterback Dak Prescott played a fantastic season that kept the team in plenty of games.
More NFL: Steelers’ Potential Aaron Rodgers Replacement Gaining Momentum
With a fully healthy roster in 2026 and the potential to land some strong free agents and draftees, the Cowboys have been given a disappointing prediction that is sure to be a talking point for fans.
As stated, Prescott put together an impressive season, securing 4,552 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Running back Javonte Williams also had a breakout year of 1,201 yards on the ground with six touchdowns, and George Pickens took full advantage of his first season in Dallas with 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns.
Despite a significant injury, fellow pass catcher CeeDee Lamb brought in 1,077 yards and three touchdowns. The defense missed a step under defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, which was coupled with injuries to Trevon Diggs, Malik Hooker, and DeMarvion Overshown, leaving the unit without many starters.
The Cowboys had a rough go, but they can now start anew in 2026. The issue is that there is not a lot of belief that they will be much better in 2026.
Per the win totals for every team from DraftKings, the Cowboys have not been given the best outlook for 2026. The current under/over win total for Dallas sits at 8.5.
This means that the outlook for the Cowboys is only one win more than what they got in 2025.
Granted, this is an early projection, but the Cowboys do have a lot of work to do on their roster. The defensive side of the ball needs some major upgrades, and owner Jerry Jones needs to not be as stubborn this free agency on trying to land some big-name players.
There is also a new defensive coordinator in Christian Parker, who comes over from the Philadelphia Eagles where he previously served as the pass game coordinator. Having a coach from a divisional rival can also be a big benefit to detail how their previous team operates.
The good news for the Cowboys is that they were expected to have a rough time under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, but the team showed flashes of brilliance in 2025, taking down the Eagles and having many close games against tough opponents.
While Dallas has been given this less-than-stellar prediction, they can prove everyone wrong by being more competitive in what should be another tough NFC division.
