The Arizona Cardinals have begun construction on a new practice facility in north Phoenix.

PHOENIX — The Arizona Cardinals broke ground on a new facility in north Phoenix Thursday.

The performance center and team headquarters will be located west of Scottsdale Road and north of the Loop 101, according to the team.

The 217-acre property was purchased at an auction from the Arizona State Land Department for $136 million by an affiliate of the team.

The facility is set to include three outdoor practice fields with real grass and an indoor field with turf.

“This is an important new chapter for both the Cardinals and the City of Phoenix as this campus will catalyze new economic opportunity, development and jobs for our city. I’m grateful for Michael Bidwill’s vision and leadership, and his commitment to making this property one of the jewels of north Phoenix,” Mayor Kate Gallego said.

Cardinals General Manager Monti Ossenfort, Head Coach Mike LaFleur, safety Budda Baker tight end Trey McBride, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., and tight end Elijah Higgins also attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

The team hopes to open the facility in the summer of 2028.
