Joey Bosa looks on during a Buffalo Bills game.
The Buffalo Bills made a big move to boost their pass rush last offseason, signing Joey Bosa with the hopes that he could overcome a recent history of injuries and return to his Pro Bowl form.
Though Bosa did have some impact, one insider believes the Bills will go back to the drawing board to find a solution for their pass rush.
Bills Could Let Joey Bosa Walk
ESPN’s Matt Bowen broke down potential landing spots for the league’s top 50 free agents, predicting Bosa will leave the Bills after one season in Buffalo.
Bowen predicted the Detroit Lions would land Bosa, giving star Aidan Hutchinson a strong counterpart.
“The Lions had 16 sacks on third down last season (tied for 15th in the league), so Detroit could add Bosa to elevate its sub-package pass rush,” Bowen wrote. “Bosa, who had five sacks with the Bills in 2025, fits well opposite Aidan Hutchinson with his speed-to-power production and the effort level to clean up late in plays.”
Bosa did have some big moments for the Bills in 2025, where he started 15 games and recorded five total sacks. He had a league-best five forced fumbles, but also struggled in some situations and was largely weak against the run.
Other analysts believe the Bills will end their Bosa experiment after one season. SI.com’s Alex Brasky noted that Bosa’s production dropped at the most important time for the Bills.
“Bosa’s five sacks were second on the team this season, while his quarterback pressure rate was third among Bills defensive linemen,” Brasky wrote. “But that’s not saying much, as the Bills struggled to get opposing quarterbacks on the ground all year. He didn’t record a single sack over the past five weeks of the regular season and playoffs and was also a liability against the run.”
Brasky noted there could be a chance for Bosa to return to the Bills, especially at the right price.
“The 10-year-pro is set to enter his age-31 season and appears to be just about finished as a top-tier pass rusher. If you can get him back on a bargain, it would be a consideration. But otherwise, one year was enough of Bosa in Buffalo,” Brasky wrote.
Bills Could Focus on Their Offense
While the Bills have needs at all levels of their defense, some analysts believe they will look for more offensive improvements this offseason. Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports noted that new Bills head coach Joe Brady has a history with Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, serving as the passing game coordinator at LSU while Jefferson was a star there.
Dajani predicted that the Bills could make a big run at Jefferson.
“Joe Brady’s name popped up on NFL radars in 2019, when he served as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at LSU,” Dajani wrote. “The undefeated Tigers had a historical season, which was powered by the play of Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase. Now, he’s the head coach of the Bills, and this offseason, Buffalo makes an aggressive move to pair its new coach with a friend of his — sending the Minnesota Vikings a package of picks for Jefferson.”
