Add a third candidate to the Green Bay Packers‘ search for a new special teams coordinator. According to Bill Huber of SI.com, who previously reported two other candidates on Thursday, the Packers are expected to interview former Las Vegas Raiders special teams coordinator Tom McMahon — who has been a coordinator at the NFL level since 2009 — for the team’s open job.

Head coach Matt LaFleur is attempting to find a replacement for Rich Bisaccia, who stepped down from the special teams coordinator role on Tuesday.

McMahon, 56, replaced Bisaccia in Las Vegas after he left for Green Bay in 2022, and he held the job with the Raiders through the midway point of the 2025 season. Pete Carroll fired him on Nov. 7 after the Raiders had a punt blocked deep in their own territory and Daniel Carlson — the brother of former Packers kicker Anders Carlson — missed a potential game-tying field goal in the fourth quarter.

McMahon was previously the special teams coordinator for the St. Louis Rams (2009-11), Kansas City Chiefs (2012), Indianapolis Colts (2013-17) and Denver Broncos (2018-21). His time in Denver overlapped with current Packers kicker Brandon McManus, who was with the Broncos from 2014 to 2022.

One other connection: McMahon was with Louisville as an assistant coach in 2006 and with the Atlanta Falcons as an assistant special teams coach in 2007. He was on staff with new Packers defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon at each stop during the two-year span.

The Packers entered the coaching hiring cycle late at special teams coordinator, leaving LaFleur with a limited pool of available coordinator options. While he has bounced around NFL stops, McMahon is one of the most experienced available coordinators.
