A Carolina Panthers tight end is moving up the ranks again.
As announced on Thursday, Jeff King has been named the new assistant general manager of the Chicago Bears. King, who was serving as the team’s senior director of player personnel, will assume the position left behind by new Atlanta Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham.

King began his behind-the-scenes tenure with the Bears as a scouting intern in 2015. He’s also picked up stints as a pro scout (2016 to 2018), assistant director of pro scouting (2019 to 2020), director of pro scouting (2021) and co-director of player personnel (2022 to 2023).
Prior to his front office days, King spent the first five years of his NFL playing career with the Panthers. From 2006 to 2010, he amassed 112 receptions for 923 yards and nine touchdowns for Carolina.
The Panthers previously expressed interest in King back in 2021, when he interviewed for their assistant general manager opening.
