The Washington Commanders are coming off one of the more disappointing seasons for any team in the NFL. After making it to the NFC Championship Game in 2024, Washington won just five games in 2025 and were riddled with injuries offensively.

In spite of that, they still have a terrific young quarterback in Jayden Daniels to build around, and Conor Orr of Sports Illustrated predicts the Commanders will sign Pro Bowl receiver Mike Evans from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“Despite interest from the Bills, Washington can commit more with breathing room under the salary cap,” Orr writes. “The push to get Jayden Daniels to a Super Bowl before his rookie contract tolls is real, and Evans is one of the most quarterback-friendly receivers in the NFL.”

Adding Evans opposite Terry McLaurin would give the Commanders a very good one-two punch at receiver. The only concern would be health, as both missed a large chunk of the 2025 season with respective injuries. While adding Evans would make Washington better, it should also look to add a young weapon for the future.
