Iconic tight end Travis Kelce has spent his entire NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs, but a new report suggests he may be eyeing a different place to wrap things up.

Kelce is still weighing whether to retire, yet his contract with Kansas City expired after the 2025–26 season. That means if he decides to keep playing, he’ll hit free agency for the first time in his career.

For months, the assumption has been that Kelce would return to the Chiefs if he opts against retirement. However, that expectation may not be as solid as once believed.

According to FS1 analyst and radio host Craig Carton, Kelce isn’t preparing to retire — but he may not be preparing to rejoin Kansas City, either.

Carton even floated a specific landing spot: the New York Giants.

“The rumor is that Travis Kelce is not going to retire. He wants to come back for another year, but he does not want to go back to Kansas City. I saw a story today that Travis Kelce wants to play for the New York Giants!” Carton said on his program via Total Pro Sports.

“That way he and his wife can live in New York City, she can go to every game, and Travis Kelce can be in the biggest media market in America. I know it’s just a rumor, but do not sleep on the Giants signing Kelce this offseason,” Carton continued.

At this point, no one else has corroborated the report, so it remains speculative. Still, the idea isn’t completely out of left field considering Swift’s home base in New York City and how frequently the couple is spotted there.

Needless to say, the idea of Kelce leaving the Chiefs led to a lot of reactions in the comments of the story.

“Good if it’s true go Travis go to the Giants please,” one fan wrote in the comments on NewsBreak.

“Kelce needs to leave KC he hasn’t done much in the last 3 seasons,” someone else added.

“Bye bye,” another fan commented.

“We don’t wanna lose another year. He’s too old. He’s too slow. His mind is not on the game and it shows we would like to have our team back now and move it on,” a Chiefs fan commented.

“I dont see Travis leaving KC for the Giants …for 1 yr…he would retire first …..same with Max Crosby I really don’t think hes goin any where either hes a Raider thru n thru …my opinion,” someone else speculated.

Free agency officially opens next month, and until then, it’s all conjecture. But if the rumor holds any weight, Kelce’s storied run in Kansas City could potentially come to an end.
