Jacksonville Jaguars’ free agent running back Travis Etienne has been linked to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Pete Sweeney, who covers the Chiefs for the Kansas City Star, reported that there is “legitimate interest” from Etienne to join the Chiefs.

If Etienne isn’t back with the Jaguars, this would seemingly be a good fit for him. ESPN’s Eric Moody recently predicted that Kansas City could be a landing spot for the running back.
“His ability to contribute as both a runner and receiver (5,136 career all-purpose yards with 32 touchdowns) would boost a Chiefs backfield that averaged less 4.0 yards per carry last season and failed to produce a running back with at least 200 receiving yards,” wrote Moody.
Will Jaguars re-sign free agent RB Travis Etienne?
Etienne had a bounce-back season in 2025, rushing for over 1,000 yards and contributing in the passing game. He’s a very good fit for Liam Coen’s offense with his ability to move around pre-snap and operate in space.

The Jaguars, however, planned ahead for this upcoming free agency period, when they used two draft picks last April to select Bhayshul Tuten and LeQuint Allen, both of whom shared the RB2 role behind Etienne as rookies.
The Jaguars also don’t have an abundance of salary cap space at the moment, so those resources could be utilized on more pressing needs than running back — like defensive tackle or cornerback.
The NFL’s legal tampering period begins on March 9th and then players can officially sign with teams on March 11th.
