Rondale Moore, a former Trinity High School football star who went on to play wide receiver in the NFL, died Saturday.

Matthew Tomlin, Floyd County (Indiana) coroner, confirmed Moore’s death Saturday night. Moore was 25.

Tomlin said the cause of death is under investigation and an autopsy will be performed Sunday.

“There’s no current threat to the public,” Tomlin said.

Tomlin said Moore was transferred to Baptist Floyd Hospital in New Albany and died there. Tomlin said he was informed of Moore’s death at 6:15 p.m.

Moore was a second-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 NFL Draft and played for the Cardinals for three seasons (2021-23). He was traded to the Atlanta Falcons but missed the entire 2024 season after suffering a knee injury during training camp. He was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 2025 and once again suffered a season-ending knee injury during a preseason game against the Houston Texans.

Moore was a first-team All-State selection as a senior at Trinity in 2017 an went on to play three seasons at Purdue (2018-20).

As a freshman at Purdue in 2018, he caught 114 passes for 1,258 yards and 12 touchdowns, was a consensus first-team All-American and won the Paul Hornung Award as the nation’s most versatile player.

University of Louisville football coach Jeff Brohm, who coached Moore at Purdue, released the following statement on X:

“Rondale Moore was a complete joy to coach. The ultimate competitor that wouldn’t back down from any challenge. Rondale had a work ethic unmatched by anyone. A great teammate what would come through in any situation. We all loved Rondale. We loved his smile and competitive edge that always wanted to please everyone he came in contact with. We offer all of our thoughts and prayers to Rondale and his family. We love him very much.”
