It’s never easy hearing news of an NFL player passing away, especially when he was just 25 years old.
Former Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Rondale Moore died Saturday after he was found in a garage with a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound, police in New Albany, Indiana, told WAS11.
“We are devastated and heartbroken by today’s news concerning Rondale Moore,” the Cardinals said in a statement. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family, friends, teammates, and everyone who loved him and had the privilege of knowing such a special person.”
“We are all heartbroken by the fact he won’t continue to live out his NFL dream and we won’t all have a chance to watch him flourish,” Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said. “My prayers are with Rondale’s family, friends, teammates and coaches as we all deal with this tragic news.”
That said, Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby shared not only his condolences but also a story on what made Moore so special.
Maxx Crosby Sends Love to Rondale Moore
On a video posted on his X account, Crosby made sure to send his condolences and a story on Moore.
“Rest in peace Rondale Moore. I’ll give a little story. Sucks having to do this after he’s not here and I know it’s so fresh but it’s on my mind. I played this man in college. We went to Purdue and played the Boilermakers on their field. I remember playing against Rondale Moore and I was like, ‘That’s the coldest dude I’ve ever been on the field with, up to that point.’ He was like Tyreek Hill in college. First Team All-American as a freshman. I remember, I still might have the messages but I’ll send them of Mike Mayock the next year he went to the draft and I was like, ‘We need Rondale Moore, this dude is Tyreek Hill.’ But God bro, check on your people. Too much hate in this world. Stay positive. It’s unbelievable. Sending out prayers to his whole family and everybody going through it. But Rondale, rest in peace. Damn. Take care of your people man love y’all.”
Crosby’s words reflected what many around the league felt: admiration for Moore’s talent and heartbreak over a life and career that ended far too soon.
Raiders’ Linebacker Jamal Adams Comments on Moore’s Passing
In moments like this, the football world is reminded that the game is bigger than just wins and losses. It’s about people, relationships, and the bond built through competition.
This is also a reminder of how brutal football can be on an individual’s mental and physical health. Moore battled through back-to-back season-ending knee injuries in 2024 and 2025.
Raiders’ linebacker Jamal Adams commented on Moore’s unfortunate passing, saying, “I’m not jumping to conclusions, but let me say this. Fans and media be quick to label a player “injury prone” We don’t choose to get hurt… sometimes sh** just happens. Y’all don’t see the rehab, the pain, the mental drain it causes. That process can make you lose yourself. This shit is real. No matter how much support you get, you still gotta fight that battle alone. Prayers up for Rondale Moore and his family. He was a baller, no question.”
It’s hard to fathom what Moore was going through, both physically and mentally. Rest in peace.
