The Dolphins decided to cut Hill to open up an additional $22.8 million in salary cap space as they overhaul the roster.
Miami are welcoming in a new era under new head coach Jeff Hafley and new general manager Jon Eric-Sullivan.
Parting ways with Hill their first big move and now leaves him without a team while he recovers from his torn ACL and dislocated knee.
From the moment he was released, a potential reunion with the Chiefs next season has been hotly debated.

Now head coach Andy Reid has addressed the topic and he didn’t rule out the possibility of his return to Kansas City.
He told reporters, “I don’t even know if Tyreek is healthy right now to do anything.
“I’m sure he’s working hard on that part of it, trying to get all that straightened out.
“We talk about everything so there’s nothing happening there, but we know what you know.
“He’s out there cranking away trying to get himself back to where he can play, period.”
Hill spent six strong seasons in Kansas City and won one Super Bowl in 2019 before he was traded to Miami in 2022.
He was drafted by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Chiefs star defensive end Chris Jones made no secret of the fact he wanted Hill to return to the Chiefs after he was cut.
He posted on X, “@cheetah It’s [time]”, with the use of a clock emoji.
Shortly after his release, Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said that he is progressing well in recovery from his injury.
He will not be ready for the start of the season, however, with Rosenhaus indicating he will be ready to play at some point in 2026.
Hill himself has vowed to return to the field after his somewhat unsurprising exit in Miami.
