The Arizona Cardinals are one of many teams that are likely to be in the market for a quarterback in 2026.

Since last regular season, the expectation has been that the Cardinals will cut ties with Kyler Murray this offseason, either through trade or release, with the former method obviously being preferred.

If the Cardinals do cut Murray, Jacoby Brissett will be the only notable quarterback under contract in Arizona.

While he played better than expected in 2025, chances are new head coach Mike LaFleur and general manager Monti Ossenfort will want to add a younger quarterback who can be a long-term solution and provide more upside.

With a lackluster market at quarterback overall, Green Bay Packers signal-caller Malik Willis is expected to draw significant interest on the open market.

Essentially Sports’ Tony Pauline reports that the expectation from his sources is that Willis will ultimately land in Arizona in free agency.

“People I’ve spoken with believe Willis ends up with the Arizona Cardinals, as they are expected to cut ties with Kyler Murray,” Pauline reported.

Pauline notes that Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley is believed to want Willis, but given Miami’s financial situation, it might be tough to pull that off.

Meanwhile, Arizona is in solid shape with $39.1 million in cap space, which is about $36 million more than Miami as of this writing.

That’s important to point out because Willis is going to command a solid payday in free agency. Spotrac projects that payday will be two years and $71 million.

Willis was impressive with the Packers over the past two seasons while serving as Jordan Love’s backup. Willis showed he can make all the throws, and his age (26) and plus-athleticism makes him even more attractive.

But Willis doesn’t come without some risk. We still don’t know how he’ll be in a full-time starting role because he has ever been in one before.

That said, with everything we’ve seen over the past two seasons, and with the uncertainty Arizona has at quarterback, Willis is a gamble worth taking.
