At 33 years old, Allen reunited with the Chargers in 2025 and remained productive, hauling in 81 receptions for 777 yards and four touchdowns. While he’s transitioned more into a WR3 role at this stage of his career, his résumé speaks for itself, over 1,000 career receptions and 70 touchdowns, making him an ideal veteran presence for a team looking to develop younger wideouts.
His route-running, football IQ, and reliability on third down still make him a valuable contributor, even if he’s no longer a true No. 1 option.

A return to Los Angeles is certainly possible, but the New Orleans Saints could present an intriguing fit. The Saints finished 7–10 in 2025 and struggled with offensive consistency, particularly in the passing game outside of Chris Olave.
Olave remains the only proven, long-term receiving cornerstone under contract, and the team lacks a dependable secondary target who can command coverage and support a young or developing quarterback.
Adding Allen would give New Orleans a steady chain-mover and veteran mentor to complement Olave’s explosiveness. There’s also familiarity with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who previously coached Allen in 2023 with the Chargers, which could ease the transition.
This is one of the least mentioned points about NFL teams is the fact that connections matter so much in free agency. Obviously when teams are gathering their coaching staffs, connections are everything, but also talent acquisition it matters so much.
For a Saints team needing leadership and reliability at receiver, Allen could be a cost-effective solution with immediate impact.
