It’s been just two weeks since the Seattle Seahawks won Super Bowl 60 against the New England Patriots. It was quite the story, as Seattle didn’t even reach the playoffs the year prior despite their 10-7 record.
The Seahawks’ roster building was one to marvel at, as it started with dealing Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders last March, just to sign Sam Darnold a few weeks later. Newcomers such as Demarcus Lawrence and Nick Emmanwori were key contributors to Seattle’s championship run. One move made ahead of the trade deadline was genius: acquiring Rashid Shaheed from the New Orleans Saints.
Shaheed’s speed and ability to stretch the field helped him catch 59 passes for 687 yards and two touchdowns in 2025. Once acquired by Seattle, he had 15 catches for 188 yards. Shaheed shined as a returner, where he scored on a punt and kick return in 2025. His signature moment came in the NFC Divisional round, where he took the opening kickoff 95 yards the other way for a touchdown.
That set the tone for the rest of the game, as Seattle would go on to demolish San Francisco 41-6.
Now that Shaheed’s a free agent, he may have landed himself a nice payday. Austin Gayle of the Ringer tabbed Shaheed as the No.41 best free agent heading into the offseason, while also naming the Los Angeles Chargers as his best fit.

Not only would the Chargers be adding a prolific return man, but it’d be another weapon for Justin Herbert. The Chargers failed to have a wide receiver crack the 800-yard mark in 2025, despite having a solid trio of Ladd McConkey, Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston.
A new weapon is needed, especially with new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel calling the shots. It’s fair to assume that McDaniel would get the most out of Shaheed in his system, as he has experience employing speedy receivers all over the field.
“He’s a prolific vertical threat with great ball skills, and a team desperate to improve its punt return averages and add a downfield weapon who can blow the top off of opposing defenses should pay up for Shaheed’s services if he doesn’t re-sign with Seattle,” Gayle wrote. “Darnell Mooney signed a three-year, $39 million contract with the Falcons in 2024; Shaheed shouldn’t sign for anything less than $14 million per year.”
Spotrac has Shaheed’s market value set at $14.1 million annually, with a projected deal worth $42,380,592 over three years. The Chargers could afford that with their $83.5 million in cap space.
It sounds like a solid pairing that would help the Chargers’ offense get to the next level.
