The Detroit Lions are renewing their partnership with the team’s official radio station. Based out of Detroit, the station has been the official broadcast voice of the NFL team. The renewed agreement, which was made public earlier this month, underscores both parties’ commitment to delivering consistent coverage of Lions football to one of the most passionate fan bases in the league.

The recently announced extension brings exclusive content with the Lions to fans worldwide, including weekly appearances from the team’s biggest stars and coaches. And the terms of the extension which include bringing new exclusive interviews with Jared Goff, Dan Campbell, and more aren’t just limited to the team’s official play season – the content under the new extension will begin to be delivered to fans immediately during the offseason!

Here’s what to know about the partnership extension and what it will bring to the fan experience moving forward.

Renewing the partnership with 97.1 The Ticket (WXYT-FM), the Detroit Lions franchise released a public statement about the extension in February 2026. In the announcement, the Lions made public the many benefits of the partnership extension.

“We are grateful to continue our partnership with 97.1 The Ticket as the radio home of Detroit Lions Football. This is a partnership that ensures a strong connection to our fans through the most prominent sports station in the area for years to come,” shared Rod Wood, Lions President and CEO. Wood gave the statement in the wake of news of his intended departure as he plans to retire.

Wood spoke alongside a representative from Audacy Detroit, the parent company for 97.1 The Ticket. For fans who live in or around the Detroit area, they can access live coverage of games and exclusive content from the team by tuning into 97.1 The Ticket. And for those who aren’t local to the area, the same exclusive content from the official Lions partnership extension can be accessed through the Audacy app, where Detroit Lions fans can listen to exclusive content from the team regardless of where they are in the world.

Under the terms of the extension, 97.1 The Ticket will continue to serve as the flagship broadcaster for live game coverage, which is a role that the station has held for several seasons now. Just as it has done in recent years, the station will continue to be responsible for providing live play-by-play reporting, analysis, and behind-the-scenes insights that bring listeners closer connected with the team’s journey each fall and winter.

In addition to game broadcast coverage, the extension between the Lions and 97.1 The Ticket ensures regular appearances by members of the team on station programming throughout the week. Beginning with the 2026 season, starting quarterback Jared Goff and head coach Dan Campbell are scheduled to make weekly appearances on two of the station’s radio shows, The Karsch & Anderson Show and Costa & Jansen with Heather.
