JAVONTE WILLIAMS has been rewarded for his impressive debut season with the Dallas Cowboys after signing a contract extension.

The 25-year-old, who moved from the Denver Broncos this time last year, will cash in on his performances with a huge pay rise, according to reports.

Having initially penned a one-season deal, Williams would have been a free agent next month but has instead committed himself to the Cowboys.

ESPN say that the running back will get $24million in total across three years, a significant raise on his first contract.

The Cowboys announced his deal over the weekend but did not include financial details.

Williams, a 2021 second-round NFL Draft pick by Denver, is said to have been on $3million for his first year in Dallas.

BREES BLESSING

He responded by rushing 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns, adding 35 catches.

Williams is now on $5million more per year with a $6million signing bonus, it is claimed.

Appearing to have overcome injury issues which marred his 2022 season, Williams had the best single year of his career to date.

Across the entire league he was ninth for most rushing yards and also had 252 carries.

Not since Ezekiel Elliott in 2019 has a Cowboys running back had so many yards.

He said in December: “I love it here.

“I love my teammates, I love everybody.

“You don’t always want to just follow money and things like that.

“You want to go somewhere where you can succeed and be a part of something that’s special.

“I feel like it’s very special here.”

Cowboys co-owner Stephen Jones added: “Javonte’s at the top of our list to go out and sign.

“We want to bring him back. We want to sign him to a multiple year deal.”

The Cowboys still have to resolve the George Pickens contract situation.

Pro Bowl wide receiver Pickens recorded personal highs of 93 catches, 1,429 yards, and nine touchdowns last season.

He will be a free agent on March 9 with a March 3 deadline to apply tags on players.

It is written that the Cowboys will put a franchise tag on him for around $28million before going in for a longer deal.
