The 2027 Clemson football recruiting class is beginning to take shape. Relationships between the coaching staff and high school players are forging, and the Tigers already have a few committed 2027 prospects.
Offensively, some of the verbal commits include a 2027 four-star quarterback, Kharim Hughley, and a versatile in-state wide receiver commit in Trey Wimbley.
The defensive side of the ball has also seen some commitments for this class, with linebacker Max Brown, Sammy Brown’s younger brother, already committed. Other notable defensive commitments include cornerback Chris Chancellor Jr. and safety Harrison Luke.
The Clemson coaching staff is not done yet. It has identified a pool of potential players to recruit as future Tigers, but which names are worth paying attention to by position? Here are some names to know for the 2027 recruiting class for Clemson.
Offense
Quarterback
Should matters change and Clemson loses Hughley, its lone quarterback pledge, two prospects to monitor include Trent Seaborn, who is currently committed to Alabama, or Peyton Houston, an LSU commit. Clemson extended offers to both quarterbacks in this class and could decide to pursue a former target at the position.
Running back
Running back is an intriguing position regarding the 2027 recruiting class. The coaching staff could be looking to add more versatile players to the backfield for some much-needed offensive depth. Keep an eye on David Segarra, a four-star recruit from South Carolina, and Andrew Beard, a four-star recruit from Georgia. One final player to note is Gary Walker, whom Clemson has not yet extended an offer to. He is a three-star recruit out of Georgia who is garnering Power Four interest.
Wide receiver
Clemson has offered a bevy of wide receivers in this class. One standout is Jamarin Simmons, a highly rated four-star prospect from Florida. Another recruit worth watching is Lawrence Britt, a four-star prospect from Tennessee. Finally, a lesser-known prospect, DJ Huggins from Georgia, has also received numerous Power Four offers since Clemson offered him his first big offer.
Offensive line
Like the 2026 class, offensive line coach Matt Luke is once again attempting to bring elite talent to campus. Some notable offers along the offensive line include four-stars Peyton Miller of Texas, Jimmy Kalis of Pennsylvania, Carter Jones of Virginia, Reed Ramsier of Florida and Elijah Hutcheson of Georgia.
Tight end
So far, Clemson has offered two tight ends in this future class. One is Grant Haviland, a four-star recruit from Georgia, and the other is Jaxon Dollar from North Carolina. He is favored to commit to Notre Dame, but one can never count out Clemson’s recruitment pull.
Defense
Defensive edge
Clemson has already offered a few players at defensive edge for 2027. One hopeful is Santana Harvey, a four-star recruit from Florida. Another notable mention is Desmond Malpress, also from Florida, who just recently reported receiving an offer from the Tigers.
Defensive line
A constant at Clemson in the Swinney era is an elite defensive line. Some to keep an eye on at this position include three-star recruits Griff Galloway of North Carolina, Jaden Wuerth and four-star Seth Tillman, both from South Carolina.
Linebacker
With Brown already committed, the coaching staff is looking to add another linebacker commit. Two standouts are Kaden Henderson, a highly rated four-star recruit out of Florida, and Jarrell Chandler, another four-star recruit out of Tennessee.
Cornerback
Clemson needs versatility in its secondary. Players to note include Hayden Stepp, a five-star recruit out of Nevada, and Kei’Shjuan Telfair, a four-star prospect from Ohio. Both players hold offers from Clemson.
Safety
Clemson needs to acquire elite safety talent to complete a solid defensive lineup. The coaching staff is currently pursuing five-star Chance Gilbert out of Georgia and Davion Jones from North Carolina.
It’s possible that Clemson could acquire some of the names on this list and build another great recruiting class. Ultimately, an offer from Clemson is not just an honor — it’s a privilege. We’ll soon see which prospects cash in on that privilege and officially join the Tigers.
