The 49ers have seven scheduled draft picks and a lot of directions they can go with their top selection.
After all, there is little debating the 49ers enter the offseason with needs at wide receiver, along with their offensive and defensive lines.
San Francisco holds the No. 27 overall pick, so it will be in a position to choose the best player among several position groups.
Draft season kicks into another gear this week in Indianapolis with the annual NFL Scouting Combine.
We check in with how the first round would play out before the heights, weights, arm lengths and 40 times are measured.
1. Las Vegas Raiders: QB Fernando Mendoza, Indiana
There was something in the air that night.
2. New York Jets: Edge Arvell Reese, Ohio State
A one-hit wonder, sure, but there’s plenty of room to get better and better.
3. Arizona Cardinals: OT Spencer Fano, Utah
The bigger question is the identity of the quarterback he will be protecting.
4. Tenneeseee Titans: WR Carnell Tate, Ohio State
Robert Saleh gets some help for Cam Ward, as the Titans aim to be drafting much later next season.
5. New York Giants: OT Francis Mauigoa, Miami
The Giants found their quarterback, and now Jaxson Dart has to do his part to protect himself.
6. Cleveland Browns: WR Makai Lemon, USC
Just mark him down for 80+ catches, and it does not matter who lines up under center.
7. Washington Commanders: WR Jordyn Tyson, Arizona State
Deebo Samuel’s return looks iffy, and Jayden Daniels needs another target, anyway.
8. New Orleans Saints: Edge Rueben Bain, Miami
The Saints have to bring a little more attitude to their defense.
9. Kansas City Chiefs: RB Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame
There’s not a lot at running back this year, so K.C. takes the top guy.
10. Cincinnatti Bengals: Edge David Bailey, Texas Tech
Trey Hendrickson is gone, so Bailey is needed to provide immediate results.
11. Miami Dolphins: S Caleb Downs, Ohio State
New coach Jeff Hafley identifies a tone-setter as a defensive chess piece.
12. Dallas Cowboys: CB Mansoor Delane, LSU
No team gave up more passing yards last season than Jerry’s crew.
13. Los Angeles Rams: CB Jermod McCoy, Tennessee
The Rams finally take measures to avoid their annual cornerback shortage.
14. Baltimore Ravens: G Olaivavega Ioane, Penn State
Baltimore now has one fewer question mark on the interior of its offensive line.
15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Edge Akheem Mesidor, Miami
His sixth season — sixth! — of college football was his best, as he piled up 12.5 sacks.
16. New York Jets: WR Denzel Boston, Washington
The Jets did not have a 400-yard receiver last season.
17. Detroit Lions: Edge Cashius Howell, Texas A&M
The Lions need help on the outside with Al-Quadin Muhammad set for free agency.
18. Minnesota Vikings: S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, Toledo
McNeil-Warren has the ability to rocket from deep safety to stop ball carriers in their tracks.
19. Carolina Panthers: DT Peter Woods, Clemson
If they want to play with the big boys in the NFC, they need more size up front.
20. Dallas Cowboys: DE Keldric Faulk, Auburn
He’s no Micah Parsons, but he is capable of playing wherever he is needed along the defensive line.
21. Pittsburgh Steelers: LB Sonny Styles, Ohio State
Versatile defender should be able to make an immediate impact.
22. Los Angeles Chargers: DT Lee Hunter, Texas Tech
The Chargers have talent on defense and Hunter provides them with a rock in the middle.
23. Philadelphia Eagles: TE Kenyon Sadiq, Oregon
Philadelphia’s offense became boring and unimaginative. Sadiq allows them to think outside the box.
24. Cleveland Browns: OT Caleb Lomu, Utah
Whomever is at quarterback needs a little more time to get rid of the ball.
25. Chicago Bears: Edge T.J. Parker, Clemson
The Bears need a little more juice opposite of Montez Sweat in pass-rush situations.
26. Buffalo Bills: OT Blake Miller, Clemson
The Bills make the call to take an offensive lineman in the first round for the first time since 2009.
27. San Francisco 49ers: Edge Zion Young, Missouri
The 49ers had the worst pass rush in the NFL last season, and it must be a priority to get Young(er).
28. Houston Texans: OT Max Iheanachor, Arizona State
Coming off a strong showing at the Senior Bowl, Iheanachor is the anchor for a middling offensive line.
29. Los Angeles Rams: WR KC Concepcion, Texas A&M
The Rams need to load up on offense as Matthew Stafford comes back for another season.
30. Denver Broncos: LB CJ Allen, Georgia
The Broncos have a decision to make whether to move on from Dre Greenlaw after one season. If they do, Allen takes his spot.
31. New England Patriots: OT Monroe Freeling, Georgia
Drake Maye was sacked 47 times in the regular season and six times in their Super Bowl loss. They need to protect him better.
32. Seattle Seahawks: WR Malachi Fields, Notre Dame
What do you give a team that has everything? The answer is a nice compliment to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who will soon become the top-paid receiver in the game.
