The NFL Scouting Combine is a great opportunity to gauge interest in top players in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. Teams can use it to evaluate talent and also interview players they have an interest in.
For the Cleveland Browns, the wide receivers and offensive linemen will be clear players of interest. But according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic, there is another position the Browns will be taking a look at in Indianapolis.
Jackson notes that the Browns are expected to scout quarterbacks at the NFL Combine, not just in the form of prospects, but also to evaluate trade options.
This isn’t the best news for Shedeur Sanders, who, without any additions, would likely be the starter in 2026.

Browns expected to scout QBs at NFL Scouting Combine
“The Browns will talk with quarterback prospects in Indianapolis and talk with other teams, too, about potential trades,” Jackson writes.
This report from Jackson clearly indicates that the Browns are scouting quarterbacks and eyeing potential starters this offseason.
Sanders was the starter to close out the 2025 season, and while he didn’t exactly show undisputed proof that he deserves to be the unquestioned starter in 2026, he showed enough potential to deserve a chance.
With the Browns set to evaluate quarterbacks this offseason, Sanders odds to be the starter next season are far from a guarantee.

Despite Sanders making the Pro Bowl, the Browns are clearly very much open to adding a new quarterback this offseason.
At the NFL Scouting Combine, the Browns will be evaluating quarterback prospects and trade targets according to this report from Jackson. Sanders might not have as clear a path to starting in 2026 with another addition.
